About the Author
If you've made it to the end of one of my articles, you deserve to know who is behind them. I believe shared ideas make more sense when you also know the context behind them – and in my case, that means my story, experiences, and mistakes. So, welcome behind the scenes.
My name is Miroslav Tax, and it's 2026. I'm slowly approaching forty, I have a university degree, three children, and I've been working for one of the largest banks in the Czech Republic for more than ten years. I started out in IT, then became fascinated by the world of data, and today I lead a team of people helping turn data into meaningful information. Sounds boring? Maybe. But it was statistics that opened my eyes during my studies – during one class, I noticed a curious relationship between GDP growth and stock markets. And I was hooked.
As a student, I spent my days in lectures and worked nights at the bank – sometimes catching up on sleep in my car between a shift and university. But it worked. It worked because I was driven to move forward. Even back then, I knew I was more fascinated by connections and patterns than by IT itself – and that well-understood data can tell you more than hours of corporate meetings without a point (yes, that's a reality too).
My first steps into investing? Day trading with $5,000… repeatedly. Expensive lessons, but very useful ones. I learned what works for me and what doesn't. And although I hit the ground hard several times, those failures are exactly what taught me which direction to take next.
I had the idea for this website in my head for years. It is now a place where I share lessons that have cost me time, money, and quite a few nerves. But I believe they can help you avoid some of the dead ends I went down myself.
Along the way, I've tried trading individual stocks, investment certificates, attempts at market timing, forex, various derivatives, technical analysis as the holy grail, algorithmic trading – and plenty of other shortcuts to getting rich that sound great on paper but can be dangerously misleading.
Today, I know that money is not the goal. It is simply a means to an end. The most valuable thing you can buy with it is time – and the freedom to decide how you spend it. If my articles make you stop and think about your own path and start shaping it consciously, then Cesta Investora has a purpose.
Your life won't magically change because of money. But when you understand money and start managing it instead of letting it manage you, it can change the way you experience your life.
But ultimately, everyone has to find their own path.
So I wish you all the best on yours!
